Over the past month there has been speculation that the new WoW expansion, tentatively titled World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, would feature two new playable races. While nothing official has come from Blizzard it was discovered that four new Halloween Masks were going to be implemented in this years All Hallow’s Eve event. The Halloween Masks are typically reserved for playable races so the inclusion of Goblin and Worgen masks caused many to speculate that Cataclysm would feature them as playable races.
Today, WoW.com is siting that “multiple sources close to the situation” have confirmed that the next expansion for WoW will indeed be called World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and that it will feature two new playable races. Horde players will now be able to choose Goblins and Alliance players will get to choose Worgen. No details were given as to which classes the new races would have access to, but, seeing as how BlizzCon is two weeks away, I’m sure we can expect more details to follow.
