Flipper hands beat mixed martial arts. The sales numbers don’t lie.
Prototype made a big showing in its Xbox 360 incarnation with just over 400k, pushing the same platform’s UFC 2009: Undisputed out of the top slot. However, neither game’s PS3 incarnation broke June’s top ten – we assume that Prototype was held at bay by gruff bike messenger-turned-power station, Cole McGrath. His sandbox title, inFamous, served as the gatekeeper for the bottom of the charts, which was a respectable 192,700 copies.
Filling out the middle zones were both versions of EA’s Fight Night Round 4, with a combined total creeping toward half a million – 471,100 to be precise – at numbers six and seven. EA Sports Active held onto third, just above the debut of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 for Wii. Lastly, THQ’s 360 version of Red Faction: Guerrilla premiered at number nine, with just a hair under 200k sold.
Rounding out the charts were longtime Wii repeat performers. However, surprisingly enough, Wii Play was not one of them. It seems consumers must have finally purchased enough extra controllers as the warhorse title ended its 29 month stay in the top ten. Also notable by their absence were titles like The Conduit and Ghostbusters: The Video Game.
Hardware charts stayed in roughly the same order as May with only PSP and PS2 shifting places and while numbers are up from the month previous, consoles are down year-over-year for the last four months now. Is this the slow beginnings of an upturn or just a momentary pause before a further fall?
Hit the jump for the specific numbers and their comparison to last month’s.
