New Releases This Week – July 5th, 2009

talesofmi101_guybrush-lechuck_highresThis week may not earth-shattering in terms of megaton new releases, but it still has a few nice potential additions to any self-respecting gamer’s library.

For example, if you never picked up BioShock or The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, then your procrastination has paid off in spades – this week sees 2K releasing a bundle for PC and Xbox 360 with both titles together. Sorry PlayStation 3 – you get the shaft again.

And then we have a title I’ll be touching on in our next post – the launch of an all-new Monkey Island adventure! Tales of Monkey Island – Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal shipwrecks on the shore of the Wii and PC shortly. This is the big one that I’m looking forward to, seeing as I’m a Monkey Island virgin who never got to experience the earlier entries in the series.

The rest of the list is under the cut, as usual. Anything you feel like picking up this week?

  1. If I had a PC that could play the Bioshock/Oblivion bundle I would pick it up. Instead I only have my 360 and it’s gonna cost me $10 more to get it for that than it would if I had a good PC. Stupid old PC and it’s stupid motherboard with it’s dead serial cable connectors. Oh, and stupid SATA for being more expensive. Oh, and stupid price differences for platforms. Yes, that’s a whole lotta stupid. I’m done now. Thank you for listening to my stupid rant.

  2. To be honest, I squealed like a little girl finding a pony under the Christmas tree when I first saw the trailer for Tales of Monkey Island. I’ve been a rabid Monkey Island fan ever since a friend of mine introduced me to The Curse of Monkey Island in highschool. This news makes me incredibly happy.

Of course, I’m going to have to wait and see what the general reception of the game is before I actually buy it. It’s not that I doubt its awesomeness, it’s just that I had Sam & Max on the Wii and I know how awful the framerate was for that game. As long as Launch of the Screaming Narwhal doesn’t stutter like a bashful nun in a porno theater I’m sold!
