Though they fell short of Stanley Cup glory, the Chicago Blackhawks have much reason to celebrate as EA announced yesterday that Right Winger Patrick Kane will be featured as this year’s NHL cover athlete.
Impressive in and of itself, EA also pointed out that Kane is the youngest player ever to be featured on the cover at 20 years old and having just played his second professional season. Kane is also the second American-born skater to receive this honor, preceded by John Vanbiesbrouck way back in 1997.
The choice is rather appropriate though; with Kane and his relatively young teammates helping bring a dormant team back into the spotlight, his presence as the face of NHL 10 reflects the long-running series’ return to glory after several years in the shadows.
To illustrate what makes Kane worthy of being NHL 10’s cover athlete, here is a clip from game 6 of this year’s Western Conference Semifinals. Enjoy.

I wanted to somehow insult Nate and Detroit in this post, but just couldn’t find a professional way of doing so. :)
No problem there, that cover is insulting enough.
