I don’t watch much regular tv; this is not news to anyone who knows me. Besides the occasional program here or there on basic cable and Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, about the only “mainstream” program I watch on network television is The Office. So when I heard about the 1 vs. 100 beta on Xbox Live I wasn’t immediately aware that it was based on an existing game show.
I love trivia/quiz shows; this is not news to anyone who knows me. My ex can tell you of my fanatical love for Jeopardy in years past and my frustration at never having been able to try out for the show.
When I stumbled onto the 1 vs. 100 beta the other day, I decided to give it a try, more out of boredom and curiosity than any real desire, as I didn’t really know what to expect.
I really, really, really almost wish I’d never found this thing, because I can see this eating up a lot of my time.
The other night, during the Extended Play beta session, which doesn’t follow the typical show format and goes with a prolonged mass trivia session instead, I ended one match in 8th place. Mind you, this was 8th out of 50,000+ people. At one point, I was as high as 2nd place, but a couple of bad answers in a row dropped me down. Boo.
So yeah – if any readers/staff out there want to join up as a party for 1 vs. 100‘s beta, I’m all for it. First three people to hit me up are in for any given night. My gamertag on XBL is ShadowPraxis13 – just send me a message first if I don’t already have you on my friends list so I know who you are. Don’t forget, you have to be an XBL Gold member to play. Check the blades on the dashboard to find showtimes and so on.

This game is so fracking fun it’s unreal. I tried the extended Beta and kept finding myself saying, “just one more round and then I’ll stop” a whole lot. One of these days I will be home for the live version and see how that is, although I already know the answer is Awesome!
Sorry I missed tonight Rob, my TiVO box took a crap on me and I spent the night trying to solve that issue. Soon we will hook up and you can have the pleasure of making me look dumber then I am.
