So last night saw the stumbling, fumbling first recording efforts for CFD’s pilot podcast. The experience taught me a few things.
- I have a newfound respect for Garnett Lee, John Davison, Anthony Gallegos, Shawn Elliott or any other person who runs a podcast that at any point in the past I may have said “Jesus, guys! Two plus hours AGAIN?” in regards to. It is SO much harder than you think to keep talking points whittled down for the sake of keeping a show compact.
- This has shown me what not to do next time around: coming unprepared without notes, not paying attention to the clock, etc.
- I need to make sure I’m somewhere highly comfortable while recording, as I may not be moving for a while.
Last night, Jason and I were on Skype for five hours. FIVE. HOURS.
We originally planned to try and bring the show out at around an hour and a half-to-two hours, since there was a LOT to talk about. We ended up recording around four hours of material. Yeah.
Now before you go freaking out, don’t worry (too much) – as the recording plowed onward, my original plans to release this as one podcast were rapidly replaced with the much more reasonable idea of splitting it into two pieces. This beast is far too much for any sane person to endure in one hit; we love you all too much to put you through that.
So it looks like the majority of my weekend is going to be taken up with editing this up and getting it online. I hope you guys can be patient with us and please do note that this is not going to be our regular format; It was just a test that ran horribly out of control and we’ll have things under a much tighter reign (with a much shorter running time) when next we do this.
Thanks, everyone.

I can’t wait to hear your podcast. *waits patiently… kinda ;)*
Only 5 hours? I kid :P
