Nintendo had several surprises in store for fans this morning at their press conference, but one of the most intriguing was New Super Mario Bros. Wii. This latest addition to the Wii’s holiday lineup will add a multiplayer twist to the familiar mix of platforming and coin collecting. Players will control one of 4 playable characters (Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad, Blue Toad) and work together or battle against each other as they make their way through this side scrolling adventure.

Features -
- Competitive or cooperative play – Pick up your friend to save him from danger or throw him into it.
- Mario, Luigi, Toad, and many other residents of the Mushroom Kingdom will make appearances including Yoshi whom you will again be mounting and swallowing up enemies (or friends).
- In some areas, players use the motion abilities of the Wii Remote™ controller. The first player to reach a seesaw might make it tilt to help his or her character reach a higher platform – and then tilt it incorrectly just to mess with other players.
- New suits to acquire with unique new abilities. Shake the Wii Remote while your in the Propeller suit and your character will soar towards the top of the screen. Or acquire the Penguin Suit and become Penguin Mario.
- Players will be ranked at the end of each level based on their score, the number of coins collected, and the number of enemies defeated.
