Crush! Blog! Destroy! – A Note On Changes

Okay, so this would have been posted much sooner had Youtube not been down for maintenance when it was originally ready. We had to split this into two parts to fit the time limit as well – part two is under the cut.

I could have just typed all this up, but it goes somewhat contrary to the goal we’re setting forth, so you all get subjected to my face and voice instead. Soak up the horror!

Also, please ignore the bad jump cuts – I just got this camera and had to compile the video from several different takes. We’ll try to be a bit more professional in the future.

I think this site has a lot of potential. I’m looking forward to some of the content you mentioned, and I’d love to have a crack at writing for the site in the future.

You know I love the site and the ideas you have planned. As long as you keep Jason busy it’s all good with me :)

Love the video update and looking forward to the podcasts. Keep up the good work.

  4. Excellent. I’m looking forward to more video updates and a podcast if/when you start one. I don’t mind if the news updates slow down, I mostly just enjoy getting your guys’ take on what’s going on in video game land.

Keep up the great work! ^_^b

  5. Thanks for the comments, guys.

I’m still rather horrified that I put myself out there on Youtube for the world’s consumption :/

  6. Very honest video man, good stuff. You look fine on camera so don’t worry :)

I really like this site and what you do here, but one bit of advice I would give is while it’s great to offer spots to contributors, make sure they are good enough. You write very well, and despite easing the workload, a bad writer reflects badly on everyone else involved.

News is pretty meaningless in the current climate, and I think cutting back on all but the choicest updates is a good call. Looking forward to more opinion and editorial based pieces!

PS: Transcribing interviews is rough work as it is, let alone one with multiple interviewees! Must be pretty chaotic.

    Peace!

  7. Gary: First off, thanks for the comments and complements. I don’t think my own writing is particularly good, honestly; if anything “good enough” is about the best I would give myself. However, it’s still nice to hear people say otherwise ;P

As for the writer situation, I totally understand what you mean. Trust me, I’ve already had to turn potential submissions away and it was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do since starting this site. It’s hard for me to find that balance between wanting to please people and be helpful to new writers versus “doing what’s best for the site” and being “like a boss”, as it were. That being said, if you ever felt like doing a guest spot for us, you know you’re more than welcome. You write damn good stuff, though I don’t know how busy G&P is keeping you these days.

Lastly, the interview. Ugh. I seriously didn’t realize beforehand just how much work would be involved in this. It wasn’t even so much that the interview was chaotic as it was that we ran longer than I had planned – we originally planned about 20 minutes or so but it ran almost 40 – and there was so much good stuff that I honestly don’t even know where to begin dropping the editing axe. A lot of good stories and entertaining stuff and it’s just so hard to figure out what to edit out to make it clean and readable. *Sigh*
