Lego Rock Band – The Apocalypse is Surely Nigh

lrb_screen13_wave3.jpgIn what seems like the world’s most poorly timed April Fool’s Day joke, the final harbinger of the End of Days has come: Traveller’s Tales, Warner Bros. Interactive, Harmonix, MTV Games and The Lego Group have announced the upcoming release of…*deep breath*…Lego Rock Band.

I’ll give you all a chance to get used to the rioting in the streets and the screams of dying children that even now must surely fill your ears. There…all better now? Let’s continue.

The unholy spawn of two titanic franchises invites familes to “Build a Band and Rock the Universe” as your tiny plastic rockers begin their careers in small local venues and eventually work their way up to “stadiums and fantasy locations on Earth and beyond.”

Due out in 2009 for all three current consoles as well as DS, Lego Rock Band will be compatible with Rock Band instruments, as well as other music game controllers. The first five songs that will usher in the end of the world have also been teased in the press release: Blur’s “Song 2″, Carl Douglas’ “Kung Fu Fighting”, Europe’s “The Final Countdown”, Good Charlotte’s “Boys and Girls” and Pink’s “So What”.

And the sad thing? They had my purchase at “The Final Countdown”. I’m so very sorry…I’m weak. *sobs*

This is the greatest thing ever. THE FINAL COUNTDOWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

Given HMX’s track record all songs will be exportable to RB2, so it’s both a fun stand-alone “family oriented game” and a wicked track pack. Unless they completely do something out of character.

  4. Final Countdown? Sweet jesus, it IS the Apocalypse.

OMG this looks awesome, I can not wait. The LEGO part is even really cool, this is a must have for me.
