Target already has a few things going for it: they seem to provide a slightly less white-trash experience than Wal-Mart and people love to refer to them with a faux-French pronunciation – ooh, lah lah, Tar-zhay! Now they have announced their entry into the video game pre-order racket, but in keeping with their veneer of extra classiness, they’re offering to pay you to do it!
Starting April 19th, Target shoppers will be able to pick up, for the low, low price of $1, a collectible “reservation card” for one of a selection of popular, big-name titles. If they come back within seven days of the game’s release with card in hand and pick up their purchase, they’ll receive a $5 Target gift card for their trouble. Not a ton of bank, but enough to let you pick up some snacks to enjoy while playing your new purchase at least.
Some of the titles mentioned for the launch of the program are Nintendo’s Punch-Out!!, Ghostbusters: The Video Game from Atari, Lucasarts’ Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, UFC 2009 Undisputed from THQ and EA Sports Active from…well…EA.
