Let’s be frank – if something had to knock Wii Fit off of the top of the heap, it’s good that it was zombies instead of, say, another Nintendo-released, peripheral-attached game. Not even the mighty Poke-beast could stop Capcom’s shambling horde. That being said, we have about three months to enjoy the silence before Wii Sports Resort moves in and climbs over the bodies on its way to the top of the heap.
Halo Wars made a respectable showing of 639,000 – 630,000 of which were likely promptly traded in by rather dense consumers who thought it was another FPS. Also, noticeably absent were both GTA: Chinatown Wars and MadWorld, meaning each title moved less than 200,000 copies – sad.
Hardware numbers stayed the same, position-wise, with every single console posting a drop. Is this the pinch of the recession coming down on the industry after all or just a brief slump? We’ll have to keep an eye on next month’s numbers, particularly the DS for the boost from DSi’s launch and the PlayStation 2, post-price cut.
