To premiere their recently announced Rock Band Unplugged for PSP, MTV Games and EA cooked up this trailer set to…The Jackson 5? Not exactly what I would consider “rockin’”, but what can you do, right?
The title eschews the traditional plastic geegaws and doo-dads that have come to be synonymous with the music game genre and instead takes the game back to Harmonix’s roots – the track-based gameplay style of Amplitude and Frequency. Seems like a rather natural fit for a multi-instrument based game like Rock Band. Now I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed for an eventual, electronica-based sequel to Amp/Freq – Come on, Harmonix! Strike while the iron is hot!
This PSP version will contain over 40 master tracks, 9 of which are making their first appearance in a Rock Band title. The new songs will eventually find their way to consoles as well, but no word yet if this will only be for the PS3 version. It will also sport a fully featured store for downloadable tracks.
Rock Band Unplugged is due June 9th. Check under the cut for a list of the exclusives as well as a handful of screens.
