As we posted a few weeks back, according to Capcom, Resident Evil 5‘s downloadable versus mode was said to be due in “a few weeks”. Looks like tomorrow sees the end of that wait, for good or ill.

The announcement of this add-on definitely divided the community: many were excited and many more argued that it should have been part of the main game to begin with and that Capcom was just trying to squeeze a few more dollars out of already cash-strapped consumers. Capcom countered that this was never the plan and that nobody was forcing anyone to purchase the content if they didn’t want to.

Regardless of intention or plans, it remains to be seen how the game mode will play out with RE5‘s notoriously clunky controls. You can see for yourself tomorrow for $4.99 or 400 space bucks, depending on your console of choice. How about you guys out there? Who plans to pick this up? I just started playing myself last night, after finishing Mirror’s Edge, and I have to admit that I’m ever-so-slightly curious.
