One day after the PS3 PS2 received a price drop, Sony announced that Jak and Daxter would be returning to the system later this year. Jack and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is being developed by High Impact Games, the team behind Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank and is targeted for a Fall 2009 release on PSP as well.
The Lost Frontier will pick up where the series left off, with Jak and Daxter teaming up with their friend Kiera to help with her mission to become a Sage and save their planet from darkness. As the story progresses and things take a turn for the worse, our intrepid duo set off on a mission to save the world from the threat of Dark Eco.
You can expect a familiar mix of gameplay elements as it appears that The Lost Frontier will stick to what Jak and Daxter do best: platforming sections with combat mixed in using a new weapon called the Gunstaff (a weapon which can transform into other weapons). Five new aircraft available for the vehicle sections will have players battling airborne enemies and sky pirates.
Check out the screenshots to get your first look at the game as well as a preview of what the Gunstaff will be capable of.

looks okay…
This is my favorite series. The screens look kind of meh, but the preview I read made the game sound pretty fun. I’m hoping for the best though I’m a bit worried with HIG at the helm. Hoepfully, this leads to a ND PS3 Jak game.
