Your mother always told you “good things come to those who wait” and while it may have chafed you as a child, in this case she was right. Earlier today, news went up about how Bear McCreary, composer for the recently ended Battlestar Galactica, would be scoring Capcom’s upcoming “vertical cover” shooter, Dark Void. The other game news outlets jumped on this, as usual. Nothing wrong with that – we know news should be timely, right? But in their rush, they didn’t give you something that we thought you might want to see.
In the following video, Bear himself talks on how he came to the project and his own, unique “modular” approach to score construction, born out of his own experiences as a gamer. Interesting watch, even for me as someone who never watched the BSG revamp (having grown up on the original series) and isn’t drooling all over the news like most other outlets were.
But those selfsame outlets were willing to give you a fast food equivalent of this story to wolf down – we’re offering you a nice, homecooked meal instead. Enjoy!
