render_group_sitting.jpgWhile “user created content” often triggers warning bells in people’s heads, summoning up images of a sea of tasteless, poorly executed dick and fart jokes, LittleBigPlanet has certainly proved that the concept is far more than the tub drain of the internet that some had feared. Besides, we have 4chan for that.

To date, almost two million players across the world have uploaded more than 725,000 user-created levels to Media Molecule’s servers. That’s pushing up on a million levels. Rather impressive, if you ask us. Quite a lot of aspiring level designers out there.

Sure, not every level uploaded is a gem – a large number of them are in the “Hey! Heart my level! Here’s a bunch of free stuff!” vein – and many more get passed over because of some rather pedestrian, uncreative titles – how many “My First Level”s do we honestly need?  – but there are a lot that definitely are worth your time to check out.

In fact, if you head over to our friends at Sunken Treasures, Aaron “theCherneymin” Cherney has a couple of levels you should play – the Rinoa’s Marsh series is full of tricky platforming goodness and I eagerly await each new installment.

How many of you readers out there play LBP and (more importantly) create levels for it? We’ve been thinking about starting up a page for community creations to highlight stuff like this – any interest?
