As we mentioned in our post on Satoru Iwata’s keynote speech this morning at GDC, a new Zelda title was announced. However, we would be pretty willing to bet cash money on the fact that nobody saw this one coming at all.
Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is due later this year on Nintendo DS. The title keeps the “map on the top screen, action on the bottom” style of Link’s last DS outing, Phantom Hourglass, but casts him in the role of…train conductor? Well, admittedly, it’s a train with a cannon mounted on it so I guess that makes it a bit more interesting.

I honestly don’t know what to make of this take on Zelda. It looks like Zelda and some parts play like Zelda but really a train? I’m not sure about this one I might have to pass on it.
I know many aren’t too excited by this, but I can’t wait. While PH had it’s issues, I really liked it. I’m hoping it expands on what made that one good. The train does seem odd, but my only worry with it is that it might cut down on the “explorability” of the overworld. Otherwise, I’m pretty excited.
